A Deserved Beating

by Dan Provost

The children are headed towards the adults with baseball bats,

Pierced anger after being victims for so long.

The grown-ups, some who say they worship god, some who are devoted to kiddy pornography, circle around each other trying to protect themselves from the potential savage beating.

One young boy, maybe 10 years old, swings his Louisville Slugger and connects, smashing some fat guy’s head.

A young girl, armed with an alumni bat, buries some priest in the gut.

While the father falls down, and the girl is about to pounce on him again-the holy man screams; “Child, why are you doing this to me?”

She says nothing, and then hits him in the head knocking him senseless.

As the beatings continue to takes place, my two friends Rich and Glenn are walking down the street-heading to my house to watch the football game.

They both laugh hysterically as the children swarm the adults.

All that is heard is the shouting and pleading of the criminals.

Who are now on the verge of guilty death.

When Rich and Glenn relate the story to me, I chuckle and turn on the game.
My only wish was that I was there to see the rightful carnage.
