Affiliates

The Beat is run on a purely voluntary basis – unfortunatley, web hosting does not come for free. In order to (attempt to) cover costs, we have linked up with various affiliates in the hope that we can earn a little commission on products bought through the site. We would also like to have a printed version of The Beat at some point, but the costs of this are pretty high.

Here is some information on the affiliate schemes we use.

Amazon

In Association with Amazon.co.uk

How does it work? We review or recommend books/films/music etc, if you click on the link to Amazon and proceed to buy the product, we receive a small amount of commission (the price to you is unaffected). Simple.

Why choose Amazon.co.uk? Well, primarily the ease of setup, plus the coverage of products available. At present we are only affiliated with the U.K. version of Amazon (although this may change), and so any orders placed from outside of the U.K. are made at your own risk.

CafePress Store

We now have The Beat t-shirts available via CafePress. A small percentage of the cost of the t-shirts is returned to us with every purchase.

Threadless.com T-Shirts

If you’re after t-shirts with interesting and unusual designs, look no further than threadless.com. Anyone can submit a design to the site, and users of the site decide which should go on to be printed.

T-Shirts are currently at the bargain price of $15 (plus $6 postage), so for us UK residents, with the current exchange rate, that represents a great deal (under £11 at the time of writing!). (Check out this useful exchange rate calculator to find out how much they cost wherever you are).

Google AdSense

Google run a very clever programme which allows us to put relevant links on our site. We hope you don’t find these too obtrusive, but like the other affiliate schemes we use, we try to add value to the site rather than just plastering advertising all over the place.
