AN EVENING OF POETRY…
Join us at our central London venue, the Bath House in Soho, for an evening of poetry, with a selection of Ambit contributors (Kirsty Allison, Tony Curtis and David Gaffney), and an opportunity to read your own work from the floor (one page max.). Introduced by Dr. Martin Bax. Entrance £5 (£4 concessions).
Kirsty Allison
Born in London when the Bay City Rollers were number one, Kirsty Allison has worked as a freelance journalist for the BBC, NME, Elle, Dazed and many other publications. She has presented on TV, DJed for clubs like Manumission and won a Sony for an acid house radio series in 2005. She is currently writing her debut novel, Medicine.
Tony Curtis
Tony Curtis is Professor of Poetry at the University of Glamorgan where he directs the M.Phil. in Writing. Crossing Over, his ninth collection, has just appeared from Seren Books. He gives the 2007 Warton Lecture on English Poetry (on Dannie Abse) to the British Academy on October 25th in Carlton House, Pall Mall.
David Gaffney
Sawn-Off Tales, David Gaffney’s collection of ultra short stories, is published by Salt. His next collection, Aromabingo, is out soon (Salt, Oct 2007) as is his novel Skip Trace, a tale of debt counselling and trepanning (Tindall Street Press, 2008). His set of mini-operas written with composer Ailis Ni Riain, will be premiered in Autumn 2007.
