Ward has a natural sensitivity to words you can never quite pin down. His songs and poems flow hand in hand. His music is haunting. And he's modest! Ward is a gentleman who walks in grace.

Ward is as smart in his answers as he is graceful and cogent in his poems. A writer worth listening to.

Ward writes about only what matters. I sensed that from my first contact from him. After one reading I had to publish his artful chapbook. Thank you for asking intelligent questions of him for the interview. They led to answers different than the norm. Ward never sounds like everyone else.

I've known Ward for, let me think...wow, 22 years. We first met when I owned Sky Records. He mentions his 1000 songs, perhaps not all were yet written when we produced his two albums, and he had such an extensive collection of demos (tunes already on tape) then that we could have easily produced 5 albums of quality selections without him writing another tune at the time.

My admiration for Ward is immense. His honesty and insight into his own life and his always asking himself how his life works in the world is inspiring. Truly.

And then there are his poems. Vast in numbers. Published by the truck loads. Bright lines of darkish inquest. Though not always dark. Beautiful "snap shots".

Very nice interview. I can hear your warm Georgia voice speak your words.
