And the Beat Goes On…
by Rob
Despite the apparent inactivity at The Beat, we’re pleased to unveil the new look site that we’ve been busy developing over the last few months.
The new site brings with it a new format for showcasing new writing and art. Instead of the infrequent updates of the last year, we’re moving to a ‘rolling’ format, whereby we add new work as and when it is approved, rather than saving them up for release in one go. This will hopefully make The Beat more of a regular read for our visitors. As well as this change of format, there are also further developments:
- Editors Blog - read the thoughts of The Beat editors regarding a range of topics
- RSS feeds - keep up-to-date with any new additions through your RSS reader.
- Comment on individual pieces of work - feedback and constructive criticism can be given on each piece, unless an author expressly says that they do not want them enabled.
So, we hope you like the look of the new site, and will continue to contribute your own work for others to see. See the contributions page for more information.
There will likely be things that do not work for a few days to come as the new system is integrated - apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause. As a little treat, why not read Sean’s biography of Jack Kerouac?

I like the rolling content idea. Much of the problem with cyber mags is that they sit stagnant for 3 and a half months or so after a few days of ballyhoo.

Hi,
Hard to tell what you’re really looking for by checking out the home page. May want to be more specific about what articles, stories you seek.
Sincerely, Robert
