Around Purim
by Rodney Nelson
I do not live in wait anymore
so am not waiting out the winter
how can it be too early in March
for sun to have heat at the window
that very it will spring soon enough
but the fancy in me will not turn
not that remaining of the moment
has numbed my mind to the changeover
any singing about renewal
or any prattling about silence
would be disingenuous now but
I am readying to jump out too
if only to go on pilgrimage
to the incuttings of a harder
old time of North American man
to visit Running Deer and Prayer
Rock and Writing Rock and Roche Percι
where the plains awaken all over
the dolmen at Lake Lujenida
if I make it to the woods up north
no need to wait the green season in
before starting my ride to the rocks
whatever I may read on them of
a spring or a fall will not turn me
