Calling All Brit Poets
by Sean McGahey
This entry is specifically for all the British poets out there – we’ve had an e-mail from Channel 5 television asking for submissions to be featured on a programme about the human body:
C5 are looking for brand new poetry to form part of a new series. The series is titled My Secret Body, and will seek to reveal how the British feel about their bodies.
The basic premise of the series is that we are surrounded by images of perfect bodies to which we are all supposed to aspire, but none of us really live up to those ideals. So what do we really look like and how do we feel about the way we look? We will be calling on the British public to show and tell it how it really is.
One thing we hope to do with this series is to use new poetry to help tell the story of how we feel about our own or others bodies – the bits we love, the bits we hate, the bits we obsess about or are aroused by. We are therefore inviting submissions of new poetry on these subjects which will be considered for use in the series. Unfortunately there will be no payment involved, just the excitement of your poems reaching a large audience!
We are looking for original work. We want poems to be short, bold, and as rude as you dare.
If you are interested, please check out the programme website, which has details of how to submit work.
Ooops, the links seem to be going to the Five homepage at the moment – we’ll check them and keep you informed of the correct address.
