Interview: Johnny Ryan
by Sean McGahey
Sean McGahey: Why do you draw cartoons?
Johnny Ryan: It’s something that I’ve always been naturally inclined to do, even when I was doing other things. It was a fun way of expressing myself. It’s also a perfect job for social retards like myself.
SMcG: What is your process for doing it?
JR: I start at the top of the page and keep going until I’m done. I sometimes have an idea when I begin, sometimes I don’t. I’ll pencil out a page, then ink it, then I go on to the next page, etc…
SMcG: Did your parents encourage you to become an artist?
JR: No.
