Lay your hands on me…

by Jackie Statkus-Perri

Lay your hands on me
For I hunger
Requiring the fluttering feel
Of flesh upon flesh
While we toss about
Fantastical words
Within this realm of nonsense
Trick our minds to believe
There is no passion in our discourse
Merely the enticing banter
Of acquaintances
Who had wandered
Over the line of colloquialisms
And into the sphere
Of teasing verbiage
Where thoughts of the damned
Give flight to epic romps
Whose legend is carried
Upon the whispers of angels
Thrown about with abandon
Cast to the four winds
Fanning the flames
Igniting our desire
To incite a riot
Of fantasies and imagery
Within the mind of our opponent
Perhaps I shall cause you to
Step one sandal clad foot
Across the line of decorum
Into Dante’s Seventh Circle
Where all the truly decrepit
And vapid creatures
Head for their siesta
Into the abyss of passions
To dip just one toe
Into the pools of desire
Or cup with your fingers
Held tight and firm
Creating a place to gather
Within their fleshy grasp
A fount of the forbidden
So sip the elixir of
Scylla and Caribdes,
The salty sea together they weep
Become faint with their magic
Inebriated with their pledge
Come to me, fair lyricist
And sing me your songs
For I have a jingle or two
That will catch your fancy
Provoke your fantasy
Turn your insides out
Make you beg for more
We can spend this eve
Spinning dreams into anthems
Of words and sentiments
Accompanied by the strumming
Of our limbs and skin
Until our minds are as weak
As the flesh we have tired
With the musings of our love.
