Lisa,
Thanks for putting down your thoughts. I am have been following Dylan since 1964 (I fell in love with him then and haven't fallen out of love since). I listen to him constantly, in my car, on my iPod, in my house, and now on XM (what a treat to hear his speaking voice and to get a clue as to how he thinks). I quote or paraphrase him often - he seems to say things better than anyone - and get right to the heart of things whether about relationships, business ethics, nature....whatever the subject. And there is always an appropriate Dylan song for me to listen to regardless of my mood. Each song means something different to me depending on the year, the day, the hour of the day, my mood. He has been with me through all the cycles of my life He is engrained in my heart and soul and is a consistent voice in my head. I, too, try to get front row to see him - I still hope that one day our eyes will meet and I will be able to thank him for all he's given to me. Sometimes I think I want to meet him, and other times I think it's best that I don't. I am always grateful that he is still alive and still creating - it is a miracle that he is still here.

You put down some great thoughts on your devotion to Bob. I enjoyed reading them.
Like you, and thousands of others, I'm hoping to catch another show soon.

Thank you for your thoughts on Bob. I, too, am a neighbor of yours; both in Dylanville and the Southwest. I was at that Cox Arena show the day before my birthday in 2004 and I was in the 8th row of the Tucson show in April right after Sun City. I regret missing Sun City as I have the boot of it and it sounds like it was a magical show. Bob Dylan has been a central character in my life for 40 years, and even though I got to meet him once, and I count the experience as a major marker in my life, it was ultimately as elusive and shadowy as the man himself.

I also read your other essay from a while back called "Bob Dylan" and enjoyed it as much or more than "Should, Should Not". I have spent many moments wondering (although I try not to) how I will deal with the inevitable fact that one day Dylan's voice will be stilled. I can't imagine it and sometimes I just hope that I will go before he does to be spared that unimaginable grief.

Like you, I am disappointed that his baseball park tour never seems to come out west so I will be content to wait for August 28 for the treasure which I've waited five years for.
