… is a Beat the Dust / 3:AM / Lost Elation Showcase, involving some of the best young writers around. It takes place on Friday 24th April in the cellar gig room at The Betsey Trotwood, London – http://www.thebetsey.com/private-hire It’s gonna be a fast and furious (but thankfully Vin Diesel-less) night of rants, readings, burlesque and DJ sets. Melissa Mann, Steve Finbow and Joseph Ridgwell will be your hosts for the evening. Here’s a list of the runners and riders performing on the night: Stewart Home, Tom McCarthy, Chris Killen, Paul Ewen, Danny King, Lee Rourke, Tim Wells, Christiana Spens, Mark SaFranko (on video), David Oprava, Vic Templar, Darran Anderson, Jenni Fagan. Expect a bit of literary word play from Steve, Joe and Melissa too cos, in the (bastardized) words of Lesley Gore, it’s their party and they’ll read if they want to! Music-wise prepare yourself for a schizophrenic mix of punk, reggae, Northern Soul, Americana, glam rock, psychedelia, rockabilly, soul funk plus a few kooky female musicians getting some stuff off their chests, thrown in for good measure… which segueways very nicely (this DJ lark’s a piece o’piss!) into the burlesque act, Miss Cherri Shakewell – nuff said!
