The Tattooed Girl

A tattooed girl,
jaguar peering from below
white tank
into the green jungle
of her arm,
puts ky jelly, peanut
butter and tide
onto the conveyer
belt at the super
store. The beeping
of the scanner
does not break
the concentration
of the jungle cat
barely moving,
spying its target
hidden in the jungle arm.

The gitl swipes her
credit card with another
beep,
as the cat
vigilant
waits to strike.
Mottled fur ripples
as the girl puts on
sunnies walking
to the exit door.
My heart goes too
as she disappears.
I put pasta shells
and sauce
upon the belt.
