The Word Temple & Amplified Word
by Rob

Saturday 18 June, 8pm – 2am
Hip hop, reggae and poetry clash on the theatre stage, taking a lyrical look at life in Britain today in The Word Temple.
The UK’s hottest black poets, rappers and beatmakers collide in this stunning new show from Amani Naphtali, creator of hit dancehall courtroom drama Ragamuffin.
Performers include leading dub poet Moqapi Selassie, ‘vocal pugilist’ David J, the powerful Michele Scally-Clarke, hip hop flavoured Gemma Weeks, witty Kimberley Trusty and the piercing Ekundayo who work alongside video projections and heavy basslines, taking the audience on a beat-driven journey ‘from then til now’.
The show features live and recorded music from cutting edge DJs Scratch Professor, Chris Campbell, and nu & classic soul from the popular Amplified crew who continue to perform at the special post-show club night, Amplified Word.
