There Isn’t a Word on This Street

by David LaBounty

With no words of my own
I poured myself out of that
box of demographics
and stepped outside
and walked through
my neighborhood
trying to catch
some words but
there were no words
on my street; there was
only kaleidoscopic light
flashing dull through
the picture windows
of so many rows of houses.
