When the Rain Comes
by William Hautamaki
Will you kiss me when the rain comes?
When the night is swept away?
When the day to end all darkness
Comes to make its stay?
I’m back here, in my man-made tomb
In a shadow, the blinds are tilted up
I wish the sun would rip it all down
Sometimes
Other times I wish the earth
Would open up its deepest dirt
For the ground tonight is ever ripe for digging
I wouldn’t go to China, I’d stop half way
Beneath the shifting tectonic plates
Earthquakes cannot get me way down here
Nor the hurricanes, nor the floods
Nor slimy snails and ugly bugs
Nor the people, nor the pain
I think I’d only miss the rain
Will you kiss me when it comes?
