Where are the Rebels?

by Sean McGahey

A new chapbook from the infamous Joe Ridgwell!

Ok cats’n’dogs it’s 09:20am and I’ve just read Ridgwells new chapbook, my first impression? Fucking good! This is the book all those no good corporate book club losers would love to write!! You’ll find that over the next few days’ reviews and “critiques” will pop up all over the WWW. So here’s my early morning rambling and praise of Joe’s book:

Where are the Rebels?

This is a collection of work from one of the UKs up’n’coming writers! Actually, up’n’coming is not entirely true, he’s been around  the “scene” for years, terrorising lit-zines and blogs with his unsympathetic realistic tales of how things are. Anyway, regardless of how drunk, fucked up or ugly this guy is (sorry) this bloke can write! The chapbook’s opening salvo is the literary equivalent of a call to arms “…And fuck everything, No compromise”. Behind this guys nicotine stained beard and cracked lips is a rather sensitive soul! You only need to read “Ode to Nedra Talley” & “To the Girl on the Train” to see this guy is genuinely an urban/social observer and not some one hit wonder shock jock. My favourite is “Moonlight in the Gutter” solitary thoughts of a poet?  “…an older version of you, Sits at a table, with nothing left, but memories” Whatever you say or think of this book you certainly won’t be disappointed!
